Open Day

The School holds two Open Mornings in each School year. The first of these is in September, and the second is on the first Bank Holiday in May (when the School is in session as normal). These start at 10.00 am with coffee and an address by the Headmaster.

There is also an Open Evening held early in the Michaelmas Term for parents and pupils considering entry to the Sixth Form in the following September.

Longridge Towers School prides itself on offering children the best possible start in life, both educational and social. It is the only independent school in Northumberland and The Scottish Borders offering education for boys and girls aged between 4- 18 years.

Set within its own magnificent grounds, it is also the only school in these areas to offer weekly and termly boarding.
Children are nurtured to bring out their best individual talents. Education offers both variety and balance. Study programmes provide challenge and engagement. The school ethos focuses social and environmental skills, discipline and manners.

This is clear from a child’s first days in Longridge’s Junior department, whose sole aim is to give pupils the best possible start to their education.

If the seed is well planted and cared for, it will flourish later. Thus, pupils in the Junior Department can expect to go on benefiting from their first term, to their last, in the Senior school. Throughout all years, class sizes at Longridge remain small, and the focus stays on the individual needs of every pupil.

Mrs Shelagh Phillips, Head of Junior Department, said: “Heading up the Junior Department is a real privilege. The pupils are delightful, fun to be with and teach, and are keen to learn.

“We have a real variety in our working day, with wonderful sports, science and IT facilities and ensure that there are opportunities for each individual pupil to flourish and develop. The Junior department is a happy, diverse and above all encouraging place for learning.”
