Geography
The Geography Department aims to provide relevant and interesting coursework, ensure excellent standards of achievement across the whole ability range and engender good attitudes towards work and appreciation of the learning process.
Fieldwork is central to Geography. At Longridge students are encouraged to immerse themselves in as many different environments as possible. Thus the students gain an insight into the way geographical knowledge is developed and learn the skills essential to undertake geographical enquiry. Fieldwork is an integral part of the GCSE and A Level Courses. Residential visits take place to the Lake District as well as within the local area. The skills learnt here provide the practical and statistical data which candidates will use for their own personal research projects.
