History

The aim of the History Department is to promote and stimulate interest and enthusiasm for the subject. The Department follows the National Curriculum through all of the Key Stage Levels. History is an increasingly popular subject and the exam results achieved reflect this.

The GCSE course follows the AQA Syllabus B Modern World History route. This includes a piece of coursework based on British History from 1895 to 1939, as well as the following four core topics:

Germany from 1918 to 1939
Russia and USSR from 1914 to 1941
Britain in World War II
International Relations from 1919 to 1963

The exam structure of the A Level course is source based and involves writing essays which will provide pupils with key skills required for further study in Higher Education.

There is also an opportunity to attend the annual History department trip to London.
