Library

The library is a central point of information for the whole school, used as a major resource for study, recreation and social interaction.  Following its recent redevelopment, the School Library now offers a selection of magazines and multimedia to assist with the pupils studying.  There are six computers in the library all with access to the internet, and pupil work-areas, through the school network.

The sixth form can choose to study in the library or the sixth form study area during their study periods, and the library can accommodate class visits for subject-related library research. Years 1-3 have a scheduled reading lesson each week in the library with their English teachers.

The Library is staffed by a Chartered Librarian who oversees the co-ordination of the book selection from the Schools Library Service and other resource purchasing. In addition to the day to day running of the library the librarian works closely with the staff to ensure the stock is kept up to date and relevant to the pupils curriculum. The volume of library stock aims to provide 10 items per pupil to support their study, but also to broaden minds, when reading for enjoyment.
