Junior School Taster Morning

Saturday 6th February, 2010

Longridge Towers Junior School will hold another of its highly successful Taster Mornings on Saturday 6th February 2010, from 9.15am until 1.15pm. Previous Taster Mornings have proved extremely popular as they provide a friendly, fun opportunity for children and parents alike to discover all that is special and unique about Longridge.

As Shelagh Phillips, Head of the Junior Department explains, "At Longridge we celebrate the individual and believe that every child has the right to feel valued. We create an atmosphere where children are able to be themselves and be respected for their differences. This year our learning theme is tolerance, whether for people or the environment to create strong core values. Obviously we want our pupils to get the best possible results in exams but developing social skills such as confidence and compassion are equally if not more important when it comes to making your way in the world after school."

At the Taster Morning on February 6th, children from 5-11 will be welcomed by Mrs Phillips and will take part in a morning of activities based around this year's theme of tolerance including ICT, Arts & Crafts, Orienteering and some practical science in the form of a fun, interactive project. This will also provide chance for them to use the school's facilities including the Science Lab, ICT Suite and, of course, the Dining Room where they will have a typical school lunch. For parents, refreshments will be available on arrival and there will be opportunities to enjoy guided tours of both Junior and Senior Schools. The Bursar will also be available to answer any questions parents may have regarding the School's strong bursary programme.
