Setting and facilities

Surroundings make a significant contribution to pupil's education. Our beautiful grounds, set in the largely rural Northumbrian countryside, including woodland, lawns and playing fields, are wonderful places for learning, playing and growing up. The school lies an almost equal distance between the historic cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle and within easy reach of both, while Berwick-upon-Tweed, with its rich historical and cultural heritage, lies five minutes east at the mouth of the legendary River Tweed.

Longridge is a particularly safe and secure environment where our newer buildings are complemented by the principal school building, a magnificent Victorian mansion, fully modernised to meet the needs of the 21st century pupil. Our facilities include a library, science laboratories, assembly hall, a specialist music room, a separate art department, a design centre, a sports hall, rugby, hockey, cricket pitches, an athletics facility and all weather tennis courts. Our comprehensive computer network serves all parts of the school. The Junior Department is housed in two separate buildings near to the main school, and has its own fully equipped playground.

Longridge's settings and facilities combine with the dedication of its staff to create a special atmosphere in which we aim to help develop the ‘whole' child both academically and socially.
