Music and Instrumental Tuition
Extra-curricular activities form an important part of a students life. The music department currently offers Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, NTO (a woodwind ensemble), Theory Club, Swing Band, Junior Choir, Junior Orchestra and Junior percussion Ensemble as extra-curricular activities. Senior pupils are also encouraged to form smaller, less formal activities such as the current two rock bands and a Ceilidh band made up of the school pupils. Joint ventures take place within the drama department on a regular basis, and recent music productions have included ‘The Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Bugsy Malone'. The School also participates regularly in musical events which take it out into the wider community. The Choirs have joined with local adult groups in performances of works such as Bach's St Matthew Passion, and Orff's Carmina Burana. The Senior Orchestra takes part in the German Exchange with our partner school in Wolfenbüttel in Germany.
Private tuition is available during the school day on a wide range of instruments including all the standard string, woodwind and brass families, voice, guitar and drums. In addition, the School is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and participates in the ‘Voice for Life' scheme.
