Sport

Sport is within the student's timetable and it is also an extra curricular activity. The sports on offer at Longridge are rugby, hockey, athletics, basketball, soccer, cricket, cross country running, and rounders

The major team games in the Michaelmas and Lent terms are rugby for the boys and hockey for the girls. Competitive fixtures are organised during the week and on Saturdays with local schools, or with schools in Edinburgh or Newcastle. Within these first terms soccer and Cross Country running are also on offer. Within the Summer term the main activities are athletics, tennis, cricket and rounders. Other facilities in the school include a purpose-built sports hall (large enough for four badminton courts), rugby and hockey pitches, four all-weather tennis courts, as well as an all-weather cricket strip.

We have strong links with various local clubs, especially for rugby and hockey. Outstanding pupils are encouraged to gain places in County teams and our unique location allows access to either the English or Scottish pathways to excellence. The school boasts numerous County hockey and rugby players with two recent representatives for Scotland at Under 18 Rugby.
