Just left school, and off to Canada!
Most of us leaving school look forward to the new academic and social experiences that a university can bring however, I chose to delay going to university so I could challenge myself in ways that I haven’t done before by spending a year in Canada. After an eleven hour flight and a grueling fifteen hour bus journey, I finally arrived at the place I would call home for the next seven months. There is plenty of snow in Banff, with more to come! Moving into the staff accommodation was a daunting process as I had to source all of my kitchen equipment, food and hardest of all meeting my new roommate.
I feel like Longridge prepared me well for life across the seas by teaching me values such as tolerance and respect as well as helping me to become more independent, nothing could have set me up better for making new friendships. Longridge also taught me to work hard and not give up on problems. This has proved a good trait to have in my job as it can be high pressure at times. I feel very lucky to have gone on as many school trips as I did with Longridge as I think it helped me to decide that a year out was the best option for me. However I am looking forward to potentially starting university next September.
