Liam Morris, 2016
I left Longridge back in 2016, and worked during my gap year. I then went to Edinburgh Napier University to study Computing.
After university I started working with DJ Alexander, a lettings and estate agent Edinburgh, in the rental department. I helped people find housing, and also managed current tenants and Landlord’s properties. I have been there for the last 3 years, and have worked my way up to Facilities and Assets Manager.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Longridge. I always enjoyed ICT at school, and have always had a joy for computing even before I selected it as an option for my GCSE's and A levels. I wasn't always encouraged to go to university, but I managed to get onto a Computing course in Edinburgh, which was a fantastic opportunity I couldn't turn down.
During my studies, I worked at RBS and was heavily involved in IT. This then helped me in securing my job at DJ Alexander, as the property management system we use relies heavily on a lot of different IT systems.
I think there was a lot that school prepared me for in my career, and I would not be where I am today without going to Longridge. From the help I received with my dyslexia, to the advice from my teachers, I have always had people with the experience, and the facilities and tools, I actually needed to get me to where I am today.
I have many fond memories, and was taught by some fantastic teachers, and also made long-term friends who I still keep in contact with today. The friendships, and lessons I learned at school, I still carry with me to this day.
Longridge built me a great foundation to start my career, and if anyone isn't sure what career they want to get into, I would always recommend looking at Property Management.
