Senior School

We aim to provide our students with the very best possible care as they grow and mature, fostering their talents, nurturing and developing them to reach their full potential. At Longridge we endeavour to maximise the opportunities available to them so that when they leave for the wider world, they are capable and confident young adults ready for the next stepping stone in life.

Longridge is small enough to focus on the individual needs of every pupil yet large enough to offer a broad, flexible curriculum. The school's inclusive ethos enables us to take the welfare of our students very seriously. In the Senior School each pupil has a Form teacher and a Head of Year responsible for individual welfare and pastoral care. We welcome regular contact from parents to discuss any aspect of pupils' well-being and personal development.

The Senior School caters for boys and girls aged from 11 to 18. Teaching takes place in small classes which usually have no more than 20 pupils.

Our modern, flexible curriculum is broadly aligned with the National Curriculum (NC) but is enhanced to provide breadth and depth. Pupils make their final choice of GCSE subjects at the end of Form 3. Our options system is designed specifically to be flexible and adaptable in order that we can cater to the individual needs of all pupils. We make a point of consulting closely with parents and pupils to help advise on the best choice of subjects.

A choice of over 18 subjects is offered to Sixth Formers for AS and A Level examinations while Games, PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) and Career Planning complete the curriculum.

All Senior School pupils from Form 5 onwards benefit from ‘Futurewise', a careers programme offered by ISCO (Independent Schools Careers Organisation). This includes a Morrisby Careers Profile - Morrisby profiles are popular with commercial and industrial organisations as part of their recruitment and selection process. Careers guidance is available to Longridge pupils until the age of 23 and the school's careers adviser is very willing to assist.
