A day in the life....

"I've just arrived at school, parked the car and am now heading into the 6th Form Common Room for registration, prior to assembly. You're never stuck for someone to have a chat with as everyone knows each other so it's a very friendly atmosphere!

After assembly it's straight into lessons which are all 40 minutes long. It's double Geography first where we are currently studying volcanoes. We're also given our itinerary for the Iceland expedition in October - it looks action packed and exciting! We have two lessons before a 15 minute break where we have a chance to relax in the Common Room with a cup of tea and a newspaper or socialise with friends. This is also a great chance to catch up with any teachers you need to see.

After break, it's back into lessons - today that means Games. We head down to the hockey pitches to get in some team practice before the matches on Saturday. It will be a tough one but we have worked hard and have fantastic team spirit so we are confident.

Now for another highlight - lunchtime! This is a time to socialise with everyone in the school, not just your own year group. Its spaghetti bolognaise today, with apple pie and custard for pudding...yum! Now we either have a half hour lunch-break before afternoon assembly, or a lunchtime Enrichment club. Today I am doing Young Enterprise. We are still in the early stages of developing this year's business so we are trying to think of a revolutionary idea and product to sell. We are also allocating specific jobs to members of the team and electing our managing director for the year.

It's registration again before afternoon lessons start once more. It's Biology for me - we are dissecting a pig's heart which is really quite amazing. There is such variation in the Longridge timetable - from volcanoes to frogs, there is never a dull moment!

Next, I have a free period so I head up to the Library to finish off some Geography notes. This is such a relaxing, calm place to study. Refurbished last year, it has all the books you could ever want to read.

It's Economics to round off the academic day. We are currently studying Chindia, the economic climate in China and India. After our final lesson we have a choice - either go home or participate in an Enrichment club. Again, there are so many to choose from! From hockey to table tennis, music groups to falconry, there really is something for everyone. It's boxercise for me which is a wonderful, fun way to unwind. It's great to join up with the younger years during this session too.

Having had an action packed day, it's now time to go home and look forward to tomorrow!"
