This is just a brief note to say that we are closely watching the weather today (Monday 6th May) and will make a firm decision at 11am as to which parts of the School fete can go ahead as planned this afternoon. We are fortunate that it is a little drier on the site than some of our surrounding areas; although it is wet on the fields, and we are mindful that some of the activities may not be able to go ahead in heavy rain. We will provide an update at 11am via email and on social media, and should be grateful if you would keep an eye out for this. Before then, please do continue to bring in any entries for the industrial section as planned, and perhaps ensure that pupils have waterproof clothes and shoes today.

Early Years have been on a hunt for seeds as part of their new topic ‘Growing’! We have been examining a range of favourite fruits and vegetables, using safety knives and magnifying glasses. Some fruits amazed with lots of seeds, spread through out the fruit, whereas others only had one or two in a central core. They varied terrifically in size too with the avocado being the winner with the largest, where as the tiny strawberry was a real challenge to extract with tweezers! Some vegetables didn’t have any seeds like carrots and spring onions but the potato was the surprise tricky trickster, being a tuber which is a seed all on its own! #longridgetowersschool #carpediem #earlyyears #growing #fun #learning #greatwork
