LTS Development Association (LTSDA)

The LTSDA (Longridge Towers School Development Association) was set up in its current format in 1995 with following the aims:

“To raise funds for the enrichment of the education opportunities for the pupils and to organise social events for pupils, past pupils, parents and their families.”

We aim to organise at least one activity each school term and hope to provide a variety of events so that there is something to suit everyone. Some events are purely social, others are both social and fundraising. Recent events have included: A Summer Ball, Quiz Night, Summer Fair, Gin Tasting Evening, Sponsored Walk, Proms night, Skool Disco Night and a Clay Pigeon Shoot. We help run the refreshments at both the Junior and Senior sports days and at the junior Nativity play. Every year we organise the annual Christmas Fair, which is held in the Sports Hall. The hall is full of both external and internal stalls holders with a huge variety of goods. And of course the annual appearance from Father Christmas always goes down well with the children!

Over the last few years, the LTSDA has funded both large and small projects, working closely with the Headmaster and the Senior Leadership Team. The largest project so far has been raising money to help build the new All Weather Astro pitch in 2016/2017. The LTSDA helped raise in excess of £20k to help with the overall cost and helped initiate a visit from Helen Richardson-Walsh to open the pitch.

We have made donations to the Art department for new equipment in the senior school and helped purchase new hoodie tops for the Ski trip, Geography field trip, German exchange and various Wimbledon trips. We have also provided funds to buy Google Chrome books for the junior school and most recently have bought a second hand double decker bus – aka Mabel which is currently being refurbished into a unique learning space.

The LTSDA currently has a committee of 4 members of staff and 9 parents. The parents all have children in either the Senior or Junior School or both so that all areas of the school are represented and the interests of the Boarders are also taken into account.

The LTSDA relies on the very generous support that we receive from parents, families, pupils and all the staff at School and we are always looking for new members. We are a very friendly, fun, sociable group. If you are new to the area or just to the School, joining the LTSDA is a great way to make new friends and help the School at the same time. If you have any ideas for events, please let us know, meetings normally take place once or twice a term.

We know not everyone wants to join a committee. However, if you feel that you would like to help at an occasional event, we would be delighted to have your assistance.

The LTSDA can be contacted by email to our current chair, Lucy Armstrong at [email protected] or you can write to the school, addressing your correspondence to LTSDA care of the School Secretary’s Office.
