Sun shines on Longridge sports events

A WIDE RANGE of fun sporting opportunities is a big part of what makes Longridge a popular school and in recent weeks we have hosted schools from across the north of England and south of Scotland.
St Mary’s School from Melrose took on our Junior hockey and netball teams in exciting matches which revealed the great skill, determination and sportsmanship prevalent across children from both schools.
As Spring seemed to emerge this week with sunny days Longridge provided the perfect stage for our annual Inter-Schools Mini Cross Country Competition, welcoming 13 schools and their talented pupils to our beautiful grounds.
After watching the cross-country and handing out medals, Headmaster Mr Lee commented: “It has been wonderful to watch so many youngsters having the chance to express themselves in sport, and what a bonus that the sun came out for a lovely day.
“We speak a lot about how we seek to develop a rounded education at Longridge with our Forest School and outdoor learning, music, drama and residential trips, and sport is a key part of enabling our pupils to push themselves in a safe environment, with their peers and children from other schools, and develop confidence.
“So, it is great to be able to have the facilities here and wonderful grounds to host schools from across the country, and it was great to see such big crowds of families and friends cheering them on. We would like to thank them all for their support, and all the schools, their pupils and staff, for making it a special day.”
